Lamborghini Terzo Millennio. Lamborghini has finally succumbed to the benefits of electric propulsion with this rather aggressive piece of automotive art. Developed in collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the car is equipped with super capacitors in lieu of Li-ion batteries. Each wheel contains an “electric engine” ensuring all-wheel drive capability.
Lambo calls it, “moving energy by wire” and the company appreciates that in-wheel motors free designers and aerodynamicists from typical constraints on petrol powered machines. Interestingly, the company is also using it as a design study to figure out what noise should be made by electric vehicles to replace their characterful V12 petrol units. And no, we can’t see how it will cope with speed bumps either.
