Bentley unveiled the latest bespoke product from its Mulliner division. The all-new Bacalar is described as “the ultimate expression of twoseat, open-air luxury”. And with just twelve examples set to be hand-built, this is certainly the most exclusive two-door Bentley of recent times.
BESPOKE BACALAR
The Bacalar features a roofless barchetta design with all-new coachwork and an unlimited array of options and material choices, ensuring that each example built is genuinely unique. Bentley CEO, Adrian Hallmark, commented at the car’s launch: “In Bacalar, we have created a fully bespoke Bentley, orientated towards a two-seat open-top experience, and carrying a number of the forward-thinking elements of future luxury. Bacalar is a rare and remarkable Bentley, and whilst clearly defined, will be an extraordinary and collaborative experience for just twelve discerning people.”
The Bacalar features an enhanced version of Bentley’s 6.0-litre W12 engine, producing 650bhp and 667lb.ft. of torque. The car’s Active All-Wheel-Drive System varies the torque split between front and rear wheels, allowing the Bacalar to use rear-wheel drive as much as possible during normal driving for optimum efficiency and performance.
Although Bentley hasn’t officially announced pricing for the Bacalar, it’s expected to cost around £1.5 million depending upon each car’s bespoke specification. Sadly though, if you’re tempted to place an order, you’re too late – as all twelve cars have already been allocated to customers around the world.
