2020 Lexus RC F Track Edition

Sometimes you don’t need a fancy name. Lexus cut the nonsense by naming the track edition of their RC F exactly that. Built using feedback from international Lexus GT race teams, the Track Edition is a limited-production version of the RC F with both styling and performance upgrades. Competitors in Super GT, Blancpain GT and IMSA decided what the RC F really needed was a serious diet. The Track Edition is over 70kg lighter than the standard car, with a new front splitter and fixed rear wing (both made from carbon-fibre), combining to produce substantially more downforce.

It has forged BBS alloy wheels based on the GT3 race car design, plus Brembo carbon ceramic brake discs. The bonnet and roof are made from carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP), while the 5.0-litre V8 engine roars out of a titanium rear silencer. Engine power is still the standard 457bhp with 520Nm of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic ’box with paddle shifters. The car was developed using Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres and they ensure all of that power is used effectively. Two exterior colours will be available; Ultra White and Nebula Matte Grey, while red leather and Alcantara seats are standard issue, along with red carbon trim on the doors and dashboard. There’s no word yet on how many Track Editions are coming to the UK, or how much they’ll cost. However, considering the astronomical price of the Lexus LFA when it went on sale, plus the fact some of the carbon-fibre panels will come off the exact same production line, the phrase ‘if you have to ask, you can’t afford it’, is probably about right.
