2022 Alfa Romeo 8C and 2023 GTV

We’re enamored with the Giulia fourdoor, which restored Alfa Romeo’s legacy of building great sport sedans. Now, the longrumored Giulia coupe variant appears to be on the way, and it’s pretty much as you’d expect — though it will be called GTV. Due in 2019, the GTV promises 50-50 weight distribution, 600-plus horsepower, a hybrid boost system, allwheel drive with torque vectoring, and seating for four. Joining the GTV in the sporty-sexy realm but taking everything up a notch or more, the 8C will return, also in 2019, bringing Alfa a 700-plushorsepower, twin-turbo, mid-engine, carbon-fiber-chassis, electrified-frontaxle, sub-3-second-to-60 supercar as a design-forward halo model.

Alfa Romeo wants to capitalise on the success of its Giulia and Stelvio with the introduction of seven new models by 2022, and two of these will be sports cars: a Giulia-based GT V and an all-new 8C. The 8C will have a carbonfibre monocoque (hopefully no relation to the 4C’s) and will be powered by a mid-mounted twin-turbo engine plus an electric motor on the front axle, together producing in the region of 700bhp. Good enough, claims Alfa, for a sub –three-second 0-62mph time.

Joining the 8C will be a new two – door GTV coupe, based on the Giulia. With 600bhp, four-wheel drive and room for four, it should give AMG, Audi Sport and BMW M engineers a few sleepless nights. Alfa has also confirmed a new Giulietta hatch for 2022.
