Vauxhall Concept hints at sharp new face

Vauxhall has given us a peek under the covers of the GT X Experimental concept car, providing a glimpse of a sharp new nose and arresting two-tone paintwork. It helps cement the mid-2020s move towards a new Vauxhall family face referred to as “Vauxhall Compass”, that gets its name from the prominent horizontal and vertical lines that intersect the front Griffin badge. This puts the logo at the heart of the design, flanked by new wing-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRL).

The headlights, DRLs, front-facing cameras and sensors for driving assistance systems for the GT X Experimental are all framed and protected within a frame called the “Vizor”. It’s similar to the eye slot of a motorbike helmet and provides a “distinctive bold and pure face” according to Vauxhall. The lack of a traditional grille could also suggest the concept car uses an electric powertrain, requiring less cooling than a conventional engine.

British vice president of design, Mark Adams, said: “Design will be at the heart of everything that we do in future.
