JLR Classic to expand into North America

Jaguar Land Rover is to expand its classic car operations into North America by opening a new facility in Savannah, Georgia, during the summer of 2019.

It will be the first time the British firm has opened a classic car centre outside of Europe and it will join its Jaguar Land Rover Classic Works facility in Coventry, UK, which opened in June 2017, along with its Classic Centre at Essen-Kettwig in Germany, which opened back in May. Just as with the other two locations, the North American facility will support owners and enthusiasts of collectible classic Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles that have been out of production for 10 years or more.

Creating more than 75 highly-skilled jobs, the premises will cover 75,000 square feet, including a state-of-the-art 42-bay workshop and a purpose-built showroom. The building will offer refurbishment and restoration, plus servicing and parts. It will also have a selection of the firm’s pre-owned classic vehicles for sale.

Tim Hannig, Jaguar Land Rover Classic director, said: “Creating a dedicated facility in the US – one of the largest markets for classic car enthusiasts – is an important and exciting step for Jaguar Land Rover Classic.

“The Savannah site is the perfect location for us: a charming setting combining a passionate community and excellent transport links that will make it easier for US clients to benefit from the authentic services and expertise Jaguar Land Rover Classic provides.”

The new development will be located close to Savannah airport and the Port of Savannah – the largest single container terminal in North America. Construction is due to start in autumn.
