Ford Tuner Mountune has already built a great reputation amongst Ford Fiesta and Focus ST and RS drivers, and now Focus ST diesel owners can enjoy a power upgrade, without harming its low running costs.
TUNING NEWS MOUNTUNE DEVELOPS FOCUS ST DIESEL UPGRADE
The m460D kit simply connects to the car’s OBDII port, but the new software results in an increase of 20bhp and 37lb ft of additional torque, taking the 182bhp Focus to just over 200bhp. This sees the 0-62mph time tumble by 0.7 seconds to 7.4, while overtaking prowess between 31-62mph is bolstered by a half a second reduction, showing off Mountune’s desire to boost real-world performance.
According to David Moore, Global Brand Manager: “The standard Focus ST diesel is a great base car, but with the m460D kit installed we’ve been able to make it smoother, quicker and generally even more fun to drive.” The upgrade – only available with a manual gearbox – also ensures emissionsreducing functions like the car’s DPF regeneration strategy are retained, so the extra performance shouldn’t affect what comes out of the exhaust, or the reliability of the car or diesel particulate filter.
The DIY m460D kit costs £429 if you feel comfortable flashing the ECU at home, but Mountune encourages customers to visit its Brentwood, Essex headquarters if possible. Here, a Mountune specialist will take care of the upgrade, and because an individual dongle and cable isn’t required, this also brings the price down to £350.
