More high-performance Xs! BMW is extending its range of high-performance vehicles in the Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) and Sports Activity Coupé (SAC) markets, with a pair of new X models.
The technological highlight of the X3 M and X4 M machines will be a newly-developed straight six-cylinder engine, with M TwinPower Turbo technology and high-revving characteristics. With large air intakes at the front, specific M features for optimised aerodynamics and an exhaust system with four tailpipes integrated into the rear apron, the vehicles bear the characteristics of a BMW M model.
An important part of the development process was the specific tuning of the M xDrive technology, already used so effectively in the BMW F90 M5. This will guarantee maximum traction and loss-free distribution of drive torque, to achieve the extremely dynamic handling characteristic these vehicles deserve.
“With their M specific performance characteristics, the new X3 M and X4 M models will set benchmarks in terms of dynamics in their respective vehicle segment,” said Frank van Meel, president BMW M GmbH.
BMW is confident that there’s a market for sporty SAVs and SUVs, hence these two tarmac-thumpers are on their way.
