Volvo’s performance brand crosses over as it previews its upcoming second production car
Polestar 2 is the second vehicle to emerge from Volvo’s electric performance-car arm and showcases the next step in the brand’s development. Spun off the Swedish firm’s CMA platform, which underpins most of Volvo’s wares, Polestar 2 features a pair of electric motors fed by a 78 kWh battery array promising an operating range of 500 km. It’s not all about range and efficiency, though.
The bi-motor setup develops 300 kW and 660 N.m, enough to propel the five-door fastback from 0-100 km/h in less than five seconds. In addition to its rakish styling, Polestar 2 features an Android-powered infotainment system with embedded Google services (Maps, Play Store, etc.) and an 11-inch touchscreen interface.
