2020 Ford Mustang 2.3-litre

High Performance Package Performance has sold the original pony car since day one, but also since then, there have been those that wanted a bit more pizzazz, but just couldn’t stretch to a V8. Ford is sounding the call once again with a new for 2020 High Performance Package for EcoBoost 2.3-litre models. Rated at 330 horsepower and 350ft-lb of torque, it’s based on the motor used in the Focus RS.

Offered with a six-speed manual or 10-speed slushbox, other key features of the Performance Package include a 3.55:1 rear axle ratio, specially tuned exhaust, chassis tweaks (including specific front and rear sway bars, as well as vehicle dynamics calibrations) and larger front brakes (courtesy of the Mustang GT) with functional cooling ducts, plus a distinctive front splitter and rear spoiler to aid downforce.

Mustang Coupes can also be specced with an optional High Performance Handling Package that includes 19 x 9.5-inch alloy wheels shod in Pirelli Corsa rubber, Torsen limited-slip differential and specific suspension calibrations. Although Ford hasn’t released any actual performance data yet, it claims the High Performance 2.3-litre engine can dash from 0-60mph in the mid four second range and will top out at 155mph.* Pricing and additional information is expected to be released closer to the car’s on-sale date this autumn.
