Suzuki Bring a New 250 to the Arena

The Gixxer SF250 is Suzuki motorcycle India’s second attempt at the 250-cc segment after the now-defunct Inazuma GW250. It is priced at Rs 1.71 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Gixxer SF 250 is powered by a 249-cc, air-and-oil-cooled, fuel-injected, SOHC, four-valve single that produces 26.5 PS at 9,000 rpm and a peak torque of 22.6 Nm at 7,500 rpm. What’s new about this engine is the Suzuki Oil Cooling System (SOCS), a system, Suzuki claim, is rather efficient without the additional weight liquid-cooling requires. Suzuki claim a fuel efficiency of 38.5 km/litre.

The front end of this motorcycle gets conventional telescopic suspension while the rear end sports a monoshock. Braking is taken care of by single discs at both the front and the rear with the safety net of dual-channel ABS. The SF 250 features clip-on handlebars, split seats and a fully digital instrument console. It weighs in at 161 kg and has a fuel-tank capacity of 12 litres. The wheels are 17” and they run 110/70 at the front and 150/60 at the rear, both of which are radials.
