An unprecedented gathering of every Aston Martin Zagato model is set to be the highlight of this year’s Concours of Elegance. Taking place at Hampton Court Palace on 6-8 September, the Octane-backed event will showcase an example of every Aston Martin Zagato ever built, to mark the styling house’s centenary. This means everything from priceless 1964 DB4 GT Zagato to the Vanquish Zagato Coupé, and the 16 cars on show will also include the one-off DB9 Spyder Zagato Centennial and V12 Vanquish Roadster Zagato.
Star of the show is sure to be the DB4 GT Zagato, chassis #182 known as 1 VEV, one of the early-1960s cars that sparked the partnership, even though it was then a further 25 years before the two companies collaborated on their next project, the V8 Vantage Zagato.
Many of the cars will – by their nature – be incredibly rare: only 20 examples of the original DB4 GT Zagato were built, and only 100 even of the DB7 Zagato, which are relatively commonplace in such company.
Aston Martin enthusiasts are recommended to attend the concours on Saturday 7 September, when the fabulous Zagato celebration will be supported by more than 50 fine cars from the Aston Martin Owners Club.
Other early highlights are a 1921 Ballot S/C that won the first Italian Grand Prix, while organisers are promising a mouthwatering Future Classics class. As well as a display of classic and modern incarnations of iconic cars, the magazines will host a people’s vote for the public’s favourite three cars in the show.
