Five years after its debut, the XE has been given a sensible evolutionary facelift that features new front and rear bumpers, all-LED headlights and taillights with distinctive LED signatures.
FACELIFTED XE REVEALED
The interior was always the most criticised aspect of the XE and it’s here that arguably sees the most dramatic change. The new layout features extensive use of soft-touch materials, premium veneers and all-new door trims that improve usability and practicality. Technology-packed, it offers improved connectivity for all occupants.
Jaguar’s Touch Pro Duo infotainment system – first seen with the I-PACE – is available, offering what Jaguar calls, “Instinctive control through a pair of seamlessly integrated high-resolution touchscreens.” Wireless device charging and clever Smart Settings technology also make their first appearance in the XE.
Another change is the addition of the SportShift gear selector and JaguarDrive Control switch, already used in the F-TYPE. A new steering wheel – again shared with the all-electric I-PACE – features hidden-until-lit graphics and capacitive switches for intuitive, tactile control of key functions.
Says Jaguar’s design director, Ian Callum, “My team and I get huge satisfaction out of improving a car we’re all so familiar with. We’ve lived with it, we understand its character and it’s a wonderful opportunity to make a great car even better. With the new XE, we’ve done just that in every way imaginable.”
The new XE is available with a choice of Ingenium petrol and diesel engines. The 2.0-litre petrol has 250PS or 300PS outputs, badged P250 and P300 respectively, while the 180PS diesel, badged D180, delivers 430Nm of torque and fuel consumption of up to 57.6mpg.
The new XE features an automatic transmission as standard and is available in rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive variants. The facelifted XE is available to order now, starting at £33,915.
