Jaguar Classic has confirmed that it will offer the E-Type Zero for sale, E-Types reworked with a battery pack and electric motor. Customers will either be able to specify an E-Type Zero rebuilt to their requirements, or have their own E-Types converted. Jaguar Classic is at pains to point out that the conversion has been designed to be fully reversible, and owners will be encouraged to keep the original powerplant.

Tim Hannig, director of Jaguar Land Rover Classic, said, “E-type Zero showcases the incredible heritage of the E-type, and the expertise and craftsmanship at Classic Works, while demonstrating Jaguar Land Rover’s dedication to creating zero emission vehicles across every part of the business, including Jaguar Classic.”
Prices have not yet been announced, but will follow, along with full technical specifications. Deliveries of the first vehicles are expected to start in the summer of 2020. The outline specifications are for a range in excess of 170 miles, with a 40kwh battery.
Rapid charging will not be a feature, but a home charger should be able to fully charge the battery in six to seven hours (known as fast charging). The battery pack replaces the engine, and has a similar weight. An electric motor replaces the gearbox. The rear axle, suspension and brakes are unchanged.
