The future is bright

The future is bright. On the cusp of completing two full decades in India, Hyundai has never been readier to greet the future with open arms.

Hyundai Motor India’s Manufacturing plant in Sriperumbudur near Chennai is ‘Future Ready’. This claim by the Korean auto giant reaf firms its ability to meet upcoming safety and emission norms well in advance before their mandator y implementation in 2019. The plant has also adopted ‘Futuristic Technologies’ which will be used for the production of their premium vehicles. “As a young and dynamic brand, Hyundai has implemented Smart Manufacturing 4.0 practices with focus on digitalisation, big data and data analytics to produce superior and zero defect cars with robust and fool-proof quality checks and assurance systems,” said Y K Koo, MD and CEO of Hyundai India at a celebration of the brand’s two decades of operation in India at the manufacturing plant in Chennai.

The plant, spread over 535 acres, is also geared up for the production of electric vehicles. “The Global body build line has 100 per cent Weld Automation along with flexibility to produce 5 models in a single line,” Koo added, clearly proud of the achievement. Currently the plant is working at almost 100 per cent capacity utilisation and has rolled out a staggering eight million vehicles over the 19 years and 9 months of its operations in India. Hyundai has even grander plans for the immediate future with eight new launches lined up for 2018-2020.

This includes the Kona electric SUV that is set for a 2019 launch and the AH2 that is rumoured to mark the return of the iconic Santro name to Indian roads. Exciting times ahead for Hyundai fans then!
