Volkswagen T-Cross sketches show off design

More sketches have been released of Volkswagen’s baby SUV, the T-Cross. Making its debut this autumn, the teasers show off its styling more clearly, with chiselled looks that are an evolution of the larger T-Roc’s design theme. When it arrives next year, it will go toe-to-toe with rivals like the Citroën C3 Aircross, Audi Q2 and upcoming Nissan Juke.

The T-Cross will look wide for its size thanks to a continuous chrome strip linking the headlights across its nose, mirrored by a full-width reflector strip adorning its tail. Silver skid plates and roof rails will emphasise its SUV aesthetic, along with chunky alloy wheels. A wide range of 12 colours will be offered, along with the option of two-tone paintwork. Inside, coloured ‘dash pads’ will brighten up the interior.

Its designers have also revealed that the T-Cross will be one of Volkswagen’s first models designed with the help of virtual reality, allowing them to experience its ergonomics and ambience using augmented reality. This also allowed them to sample the Beats audio system and infotainment system well before the car was created.
