Tread carefully. As an owner of both a Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.3 W109 and a 450SEL 6.9 W116 enjoyed your articles on ‘hot saloons’ in the Winter edition that featured these models. However, I noted that the New Zealand owner of the 6.9 seemed to recommend “budget" Chinese tyres as a suitable alternative to the correct Michelins. He also stated that he drove his 6.9 at over 100mph “on occasions".
